JOHN GORRIE MUSEUM STATE PARK

Located in the historic district, the John Gorrie Museum State Park celebrates the life of its namesake, a young physician who is credited with inventing the first ice-making machine. A replica of the machine is on display as well as other interesting artifacts from the mid-1800’s at this charming and unexpected landmark.
